By just 3 minutes a day!..
A study reveals the easiest way to
save your heart from diseases
An international research team has found that just three minutes a day of moderate
activity may significantly reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease in older people.
The study :
was based on an analysis of data from 24,139 participants from the UK
Biobank, with an average age of 62 years, who wore tracking devices to monitor
their physical activity levels during the period between 2013 and 2015.
Researchers from the United Kingdom and Australia, in collaboration with
the McKinsey Wearables Centre, focused in particular on people who do not
exercise regularly, discovering that casual daily activities, such as preparing home
meals, cleaning, gardening :
or even shopping, can provide significant health benefits. For the heart.
The results showed that
- participants who were keen to engage in moderate-intensity daily activities
- for at least three minutes a day had a significantly
- reduced risk of heart attacks or strokes.
The researchers also noted differences between the sexes, as it was found that
women generally practice these casual activities more than men which
may partly explain the differences in heart disease rates between the sexes.
The study found that :
- the benefits increase with the duration and intensity of these daily activities.
- The more time allocated to movement and activity during the day
- even if it is just frequent standing or short walking, the better
the heart health indicators.
These results :
provide a practical solution for elderly people who may find it difficult to adhere to
intensive exercise programs, as they prove that maintaining heart health does not
necessarily require going to gyms, but rather can be achieved
by including simple movements in the daily routine.
