  • as heavy equipment passing through the streets. He pointed out that

  • the buildings and everything went as usual


Kuchan :

"We received a telephone alert, which usually happens before natural

disasters like hurricanes, snowfall, earthquakes, floods.

He added: 

At the time of the earthquake :

I was in a multi-storey building, and it felt like very heavy equipment passing

along the street, like trucks or tanks. There was shaking, but everything kept going.

In fact :

the earthquake was felt even several hours from

New York. My friends living in Delaware also felt small shakes. "

On April 5 ;

  • a magnitude 5.1 earthquake occurred near New York, United States
  • and seismic tremors were observed 46 km northwest of Edison
  • New Jersey. No injuries or damage were reported.

Russia's consul-general in New York, Alexander Zakharov, said that the Russian

consulate in New York had evacuated its visitors as a preventive measure.


As a result of the earthquake

  • John Kennedy and Newark airports were temporarily suspended.
