Republican
senator comments on attack on US
base in Iraq and demands a decisive response from Biden
U.S. Republican Senator Tom Cotton on Sunday commented on the deaths of
3 U.S. soldiers and the wounding of 25 others in a drone attack on the U.S.
Al-Tanf base between Syria and Jordan.
Cotton called for "destructive military retaliation against Iranian terrorist forces
both inside Iran and throughout the Middle East"
stressing that
any lesser response would confirm that US President Joe Biden is
cowardly and does not deserve to be the country's supreme leader.
US President Joe Biden
announced that three US military personnel had been killed
and others wounded in a drone attack on US troops near Syria's border.
The Jordanian Government denied that the attack on the United States
base took place within its territory, while the Central Command
previously declared that "3 soldiers were killed and another 25
wounded in a drone attack targeting a base in northeast Jordan."
For his part, the Pentagon said, "What has been the subject of
a serious escalation of American forces in Jordan."
The White House also reported that "Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin
National Security Adviser Jake Salevan and Deputy National Security
Adviser briefed President Joe Biden this morning on details of the attack
against U.S. service members in northeast Jordan near the Syrian border."
Biden:
Attack that killed 3 military members of our forces carried
out by Iran-backed groups active in Syria and Iraq
U.S. President Joe Biden said in a statement Sunday evening that the attack on U.S.
troops that killed two military 3 was carried out by Iran-backed militant groups
operating in Syria and Iraq.
The United States Central Command announced that 3 soldiers had been killed
and 25 wounded in a drone attack targeting a base in northeastern Jordan
and the Pentagon said that a serious escalation had been experienced
by United States forces in Jordan.

President's statement reads as follows:
3 United States military personnel were killed and others wounded
by a drone attack on our forces in north-east Jordan near Syria's border.
We shall hold accountable all those responsible for the attack that targeted
our forces in a timely manner and in the manner we choose.
We gather information on this attack and know that it was carried
out by extremist groups supported by Iran.
We will maintain the sacred commitment to the victims
families and to the fight against terrorism.
No one has any doubt that we will hold all those responsible
for this incident accountable.
The heart of America is saddled with the killing of 3 soldiers in

three U.S. service members were killed and several wounded during
a drone attack on our forces stationed in northeast Jordan near the Syrian border."
