Trump said in court that E. Jean Carroll
"enjoyed being sexually assaulted,"
and her lawyer questioned whether he confessed to rape.
According to recently leaked testimony
In a videotaped testimony from last year, Donald Trump misrepresented author E Jean Carroll was enjoying sexual assault, calling her a "walnut job" and prompting her lawyer to question whether he admitted to raping her.
According to excerpts from his videotaped testimony
when asked about filing a lawsuit, former U.S. President Donald Trump spat out obscenity and threatened to sue the columnist who accused him of raping her in the 1990s at the Bergdorf Goodman luxury store in New York.
The tapes were made in October last year and released by the judge on Friday.
On Friday :
the New York court also dismissed as "ridiculous"
Carroll's allegations against Trump of rape and slander. A trial is scheduled for April.
She claimed that I treated her in a way that never occurred. There was nothing. He said, according to the October testimony, "I know nothing about this nut job."
The excerpts show a sharp exchange between Trump
- and Carroll's attorney, Roberta Kaplan
- where she questioned Trump while accusing
- the former Elle columnist of a "complete scam."
She allegedly described the alleged rape
He claimed that she was promot[ing] a really bad book.
I'll sue her after this is over
and that's the thing I'm really looking forward to doing. Trump added.
When he previously responded to the allegations
- soon after Carroll's 2019 book was released
- was not "politically acceptable.
The author claimed that after they encountered an opportunity in the store and agreed to help him choose underwear for a friend, Trump attacked her in the dressing room.
He said, "But I'll say it anyway."
She accuses me of rape, a woman whose identity I have no idea. Came out of thin air. She claims that I raped her, which is the worst thing you can do and the worst accusation.
Trump went so far as to describe Carroll as
"sick and mentally ill"
and falsely claimed that Carroll discussed how she enjoyed sexual rape in an interview with CNN. She actually indicated that she liked it. Yes?
"I liked it until the trade break,"
Trump said.
Actually
I think she said it was sexy, right?
She said it was very exciting to be raped. Didn't you say that? "
Kaplan then tried to convince Trump that he had violated her client.
So, sir
just want to emphasize: It's your testimony that E.
Jean Carroll said she likes to be sexually abused by you?"
Trump replied
Well :
- based on her conversation with Anderson Cooper of CNN
- I think that's what happened.
- And we can determine that...
- I think she said rape is exciting - and it's not, by the way.
Carroll claimed that because some people "think rape is sexy,"
she chose to use the word "fight" instead of "rape."
Also on Friday
Trump's real estate conglomerate, the Trump Organization, was convicted of tax fraud and imposed maximum penalties of $1.6 million. This conviction is only the latest in a long line of major legal cases that plague Trump from Georgia to New York.
