Abortion Law in America
Abortion is legal in the United States, but specific regulations and restrictions
The procedure varies by mandate.
In the landmark case of Roe v. Wade
the United States Supreme Court ruled that women have a constitutional right to abortion under the 14th Amendment to the Constitution.
This decision proved that States cannot place undue burdens on a woman's right to have an abortion before the point of survival, at which point the fetus can survive outside the womb.
After survival
States are allowed to regulate or prohibit abortion
except when necessary to protect a woman's life or health.
However
States may not place an undue burden on women's right to abortion.

- mandatory counseling, and requirements to provide certain information.
- Some of these laws were challenged in court and repealed
- or upheld depending on the specific circumstances.
