which analyses social media posts, said the use of the word "negro" on the app rose by nearly 500% in 12 hours after Musk's Twitter purchase deal. The increase in racist abuse was accompanied by a similar rise in anti-LGBT hatred.
By the afternoon of Musk's takeover of the site, misogynistic, homophobic, bisexual and transgender messages had become increasingly prominent, and accounts had emerged calling for harassment of transgender people.
