Democratic representatives plan a final retaliation against Trump

if the House margin is weak, he will try to make Liz Cheney the speaker.

As the race for control of the House of Representatives recedes to a few seats, the Democratic Democrats need to run the table to maintain control. No one expects them to, so some House Democrats have begun putting forward an alternative strategy.

The final margin of the House may be just one or two votes, and Kevin McCarthy is already feeling pressure from within the Republican Party, so Democrats are asking McCarthy to make a deal with them to secure the House presidency.

Rep. Robin Gallego (D-A) first introduced the idea on social media :

  • "Just make a deal with the Democrats Kevin.
  • Everything you get from Freedom Caucus won't be worth it.

The Washington Examiner spoke to other Democratic representatives about crossing the aisle and working with Kevin or anyone else in the Republican Party to make them speakers.

I don't know that until the dust settles

  • the margin is determined, and how far McCarthy needs some Dem support.
  • Someone said. "Closure is important only in horses
  • and grenades, not in speakers' races."

Another said: If he asks, it may be possible.

Either you're Speaker of the House for two years and you get out of the money on Wall Street or you're a speaker for three months and you're fired by the Freedom Group.

Another Democrat said a deal to appoint Kevin to the post would be better than having someone like Majorie Taylor Green or Jim Jordan as a speaker.

I doubt it :

  • however, I believe that if Rep.
  • Marjorie Taylor Greene (Republican of Georgia)
  • it might be possible. I think it's more about
  • the alternative than anything he can offer. "

One centrist Democrat then put forward a plan that Democrats whispered behind the scenes - hiring Liz Cheney as the speaker for Trump's final retaliation.

The Democrat said:

"Under no circumstances will a Democrat vote

for someone who downplayed 6 January.

I'm one of the most partisan people in the place, and the idea of supporting Kevin makes me laugh.

It's a crazy offer to think of supporting someone like him.

I will never do that.

No democrat with principles and faith in democracy will ever do so.

The MP added that there are currently special talks about

voting for Liz Cheney and getting a group of both sides to vote for her as a rebuke to Trump in a scenario where Kevin could not get votes.

The MP said :

I will classify them as serious in the intention of putting forward a principled option with a view to bringing people together but not serious in that I can't imagine the number being as high as 218.
