Biden links attack on Paul Pelosi to Trump speech
US President Joe Biden used his closing speech before the midterm election to warn against his predecessor Donald Trump's speech, which led to the assault of Paul Pelosi, the speaker's husband.
Trump's great falsehood that the 2020 election was stolen, according to Biden
was the driving force behind both the attack on Pelosi and the Capitol, stating that it was "a lie that has led to a serious upsurge in political violence and voter intimidation over the past two years."
Biden preemptively denounced any Republican who will not accept the results of the midterm elections scheduled to take place next Tuesday, arguing that the looming competition concerns a much larger issue than any of his specific policies, adding: "We will have our differences. But there is something else at stake, democracy per se ".
On assaulting Nancy Pelosi's husband
Biden repeated the words of the attacker:
"Where is Nancy? Where is Nancy?
", Before reminding Americans that "these are the same words that the gangsters used when they broke into the Capitol."
