after Trump delivered a fiery speech to the rally that was rallying near the White House, before those in the crowd headed to the Capitol, trying to stop the House and Senate from certifying Joe Biden's victory in the 2021 presidential election.

  • After an official informed her that Trump had refrained from coming to the Capitol
  • Pelosi said, "I hope he comes
  • I'll beat him, I'll go to jail, I'll be happy."

According to CNN

the video was filmed by Nancy's daughter Alexandra Pelosi, a documentary producer, and was not shown among the documents presented by the committee formed to investigate the events of January 6, at a public hearing on Thursday.

The relationship between Pelosi and Trump has been strained during the latter's presidency, such as the confrontation in the Oval Office after Democrats took control of Congress in 2018, as well as when Pelosi tore up a copy of the State of the Union address in 2020.

Pelosi expects Democratic Party to retain control of House of Representatives after midterm congressional elections

Speaker of the U.S.

House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi says she believes the Democratic Party will retain control of the House of Representatives after November's congressional midterm elections.

"I think we're going to win the House," Pelosi said, stressing that "we're going to retain the House by winning more seats." Democrats currently have an additional one-seat majority in the House.

Pelosi predicted that

the Democratic victories in November would reflect those of 2020, adding:

"We won 40 seats, then we lost some of them when (former President Donald) Trump was on the ballot, and we lost some of Trump's counties, but we held enough seats to take control of the House of Representatives."
