After more information, a video again emerged in which Eric Trump, the son of former President Donald Trump, claimed that Secret Service agents guarding Trump had been given special rates to stay in Trump-owned hotels.

According to House Oversight

and Reform Committee investigations, the Secret Service allegedly charged it up to $1,185 per room, per night, on dozens of trips, despite Trump Organization claims that Agents visiting Trump-owned residences remained at no cost.. or at a reduced price.

Agents with protection details for President Trump and his family reportedly paid up to five times the usual government rate for hotel stays.

According to data recently obtained by Congress

the final amount reached about $1.4 million.

A video of Eric Trump speaking at the Yahoo Finance All Markets Summit afterwards became viral on Twitter on October 10, 2019.

Since its publication on Monday night, the video has garnered more than 150 thousand views.

This is another accomplishment that people don't give us credit for at all, Eric Trump stated in the video.

Whenever the government shows up..

  • They remain on our property for free
  • which basically implies the expense of
  •  housekeeping since you have to bill the government for legal fees.

Accordingly

  • if he stays at one of our locations "everywhere he goes
  • [the government] saves a fortune because if they go through
  • a hotel across the street, they're going to be paid $500
  • a night while we charge them up to $50," he said.

Trump reportedly made 547 visits to his property during his presidency, including 145 to Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida.

This week

NewYork Democrat and Committee Chair Caroline Maloney wrote to Kimberly Cheatel, head of the United States Secret Service, urging her to comply with the Committee's request for an investigation.

Maloney claimed that despite their "pursuit of more than two years of comprehensive accounting for Secret Service expenditures on Trump Organization property," they remain in the dark.

Maloney wrote:

The pricey Secret Service fees and the agents' frequent stays at Trump-owned properties raise serious questions about how the former president handled himself and could have resulted in taxpayer-funded windfalls for his struggling businesses.
