Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has revealed that she will not run for president again after reports put her ahead as a potential Democratic candidate for 2024.
Clinton, in an interview with CBS after being asked if she intended to run again, said:
"No, no..
But I will do everything I can to make sure that we have a president who respects our democracy and the rule of law and supports our institutions, "stressing that former President Donald Trump will not fall into this category and that he" must be severely defeated "if he runs again.
"Trump's defeat must begin from within the Republican Party and stand up to this man," she said, noting that she would endorse incumbent President Joe Biden if he ran for re-election the same year, considering he would be the "most likely person to win."
Clinton dropped any comparisons between her use of her private email
- and her handling of classified confidential files while serving as secretary of state
- and the recent discovery of classified confidential materials at Trump's Florida home
- explaining that the two positions were "very different from each other."
On her skirmishes with the FBI compared to Trump's current situation, she said, "I think it's a different comparison to what's going on here," pointing out that "the Justice Department and the FBI seem to have been incredibly patient, calm and cautious with Trump until they finally thought national security was at stake."
Kushner: Trump asked Ivanka to arrange meeting with Hillary Clinton
Former US
President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner has revealed that the latter asked his daughter Ivanka Trump for a meeting with Hillary Clinton hours after he won the 2016 election.
Kushner said in his memoir book, Breaking History:
- The White House Memoir
- which is due to be released Tuesday
- that Trump wanted to broker a meeting with the former secretary of
- state in an effort to resolve a "friendly relationship, and that he wanted to help the country unite."
According to the book, shortly after Clinton gave her privilege speech
Trump asked Ivanka to reach out to her friend Chelsea Clinton, Hillary Clinton's daughter, to see if she could find a way to mediate a dinner between them, stating that "Ivanka has been instructed to convey a message that the 45 president has no intention of looking back and hopes for a friendly relationship with Hillary to unite the country."
"Trump asked Ivanka to invite Hillary and (former President) Bill Clinton to dinner in the coming weeks," he said. Ivanka contacted Chelsea, but days later Hillary announced her support for Greens presidential candidate Jill Stein in the election. As a result, Trump terminated his communication. "
