Republican U.S. Representative Liz Cheney, former President Donald Trump's arch-enemy, vowed on Tuesday to "do whatever it takes" to not elect the billionaire president again.

The statement came after Cheney lost the Republican primary to win her party's re-election nomination as her running mate, Wyoming, to Harriet Higgimen, "supported by Trump."

In a speech in which she acknowledged her defeat, Cheney said, "I have said since January 6th that I will do whatever it takes to ensure that Donald Trump never again approaches the Oval Office, and I mean it."

Commenting on her loss, Cheney added: "Two years ago, I won this primary with 73% of the vote. I could have done the same thing easily tonight. But it would have required me to keep up with Trump's lie about the election. This was a path I couldn't and wouldn't take ".

Cheney, 56, has turned into one of Trump's fiercest enemies since she joined a parliamentary committee investigating the former president's role in the January 6, 2021, attack by a crowd of supporters on the Capitol.

Trump was quick to welcome the defeat of his enemy, writing on Truth Sussell

  1. the social media network he founded, that Cheney should "be ashamed of herself
  2. of the way she behaves," and added, "Now
  3. she can finally fall into political oblivion."

In a very conservative state where more than 70% of its voters voted for Trump in the last presidential election, Harriet Hegemen supports the theory held by Trump supporters that the 2020 election was "stolen" from the former president.

Trump's arch-enemy faces near-decisive loss in Wyoming

Republican Liz Cheney, who fought against former US President Donald Trump, is expected to suffer a major loss in Wyoming, where he predicts a sweeping victory for her Trump-backed rival.

According to the polls, Harriet Hegemen leads Liz Cheney by about 20 points in the race for her party's nomination for a seat in the House of Representatives. A recent study by the University of Wyoming showed that this difference could be up to 30 points.

Cheney, 56, has become one of Trump's strongest enemies since joining a parliamentary committee investigating his role in the Capitol attack on January 6, 2021.

  • which considers that the 45th President of the United States "breached his duty"
  • during the attack by his supporters in an effort to prevent the certification of
  • his Democratic opponent Joe Biden's presidential election victory in 2020.

Trump, for his part, has intensified his criticism of Cheney, accusing her of being "unfaithful and inciting to war" and calling her a "failure that dares to give lessons." He paid all his weight to support rival Hegemon (59).
