What's Behind US CPS Missile Test Failure

 The director of the MilitaryRussia project wrote in "Izvestia," about the evolution of the American hypersonic weapons program and whether they would succeed in making real missiles.

According to the article, a periodic test of an American hypersonic weapon ended in complete failure. Friday, June 29, it was announced that the promising CPS hypersonic missile encountered problems during the test in the launch of the second phase. As a result, the test ended in an accident. This is not the first setback for America's hypersonic weapons program.

First, unlike the Soviet Union and Russia, the United States never faced an urgent need to fight a strange aircraft carrier fleet covered by a robust air defence system;

Secondly, there were some doubts abroad about the success of work on the establishment of a hypersonic system in Russia. According to them

  • the old Soviet solutions employed in Avangard, and the cunning "Persian Movement"
  • which was used to create the "dagger" complex by hanging Iskander's ground missiles on board an aircraft
  • could not yield dangerous combat systems. But that wasn't the case. Both Russian hypersonic weapons have proven highly effective
  • especially in the criterion of the degree of effectiveness to cost

Thirdly, Americans overestimated their forces and capabilities and underestimated the technical complexity of establishing such systems.

Of course the Americans will eventually succeed. As was the case in the space race in the late 1950s, America will catch up with us and realize us sooner or later.

Thus, we will reach a new "mortgage situation" of confrontation between different strike and defence systems, and their combination with different groups of forces - aviation, naval and ground forces. There will be no radical surprises here - an army that can guarantee the most rational interaction will triumph in the use of this whole arsenal of means. We need to prepare for this "tomorrow".
