"The New York Times": Kiev's heavy casualties force it to send arrows to fight Russian troops

Valerie Korko, commander of a defence brigade in western Ukraine, was quoted as saying: "Some refused to leave their areas" and join the fighting in Donbass, south-eastern Ukraine.


The paper notes that "efforts to relocate more combatants with limited training to the east have led to the total annihilation of some units".



Kiev: Ukrainian forces lost half of their weapons in fighting


Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Defence, Vladimir Karpenko, said Ukrainian forces had lost about half of their equipment and equipment in combat.


According to Ukrainian newspaper Lega, Karpenko said


  1. "I'm just talking about heavy weapons. So far, we have about 30-40%
  2. sometimes up to 50% of equipment losses as a result of active combat. So
  3. we lost about 50%.. approximately 1,300 infantry vehicles
  4. 400 tanks and 700 cannons of all kinds ".


According to Karbenko, Western arms supplies cover up to 15% of Ukraine's needs.


He added


  •  "We received a large number of weapons, but unfortunately
  • with such a large expenditure, they only cover 10-15% of our needs.
  • We need artillery, ammunition, pedestrian vehicles and tanks. We need air defence systems and rocket launchers ".


He noted that the Ukrainian army needed to refurbish a cannon 700 that had been disturbed in combat, and only 100 of them had been received from the West.


Earlier, the Adviser to the Head of the Office of Ukrainian President Mikhail Podoliak said that Ukraine's human casualties ranged from 100 to 200 troops per day.
