Biden expresses disappointment over Supreme Court decision allowing citizens to carry weapons

Earlier in the day, the United States Supreme Court ruled that Americans were entitled to carry firearms in public, in a landmark decision that would prevent states from imposing restrictions on carrying such weapons.


The ruling of the majority of judges


which comes at a time when the country is experiencing a shocking increase in firearms offences, overturns a law in New York requiring people to prove that they need self-defence to obtain a firearm licence.


A recent report revealed that the United States had experienced 246 mass shootings in 2022.


The report from Gun Violence Archive, a non-profit organization that tracks shootings in America, stated that this is the same number of mass shootings in 2021 as of June 5.


One person killed and 8 injured by shooting at a gathering in New York


Police in New York City announced that one person was killed and 8 others were wounded by a shooting at a gathering early Monday morning in the Harlem neighborhood.


Police citing preliminary information said that at around 12:40 a.m., police responded to reports of gunfire on a footpath along the FDR road.


After arriving at the scene


the United States police found five people who had been shot, who were taken to hospitals for treatment, according to the Associated Press. "

  2. Police indicated that a 21-year-old man died in hospital, with six men and two women wounded.
